Before he became "theG00$E", Karim Spaulding was anything but the typical native New Yorker.
Born in the Bronx and raised between New York, Kingston and London he developed an early awareness of how identity and design reflected one another. While attending Evander Childs high school Karim and two other friends started a DIY clothing company which they called, "Pretty Boy Productions", in response to the lack of individual style propagated by the 90's "roughneck era". After graduating from (CUNY) Lehman College with a bachelors of science in Economics and a minor in Computer Information Systems (CIS), Karim interned at the now defunct Arista Records then later at Jive records in the marketing department. During this time his passion for entrepreneurship was truly realize. Seeing all the successful blackmen and women who worked behind the scenes to create a "pop-stars" image, inspired Karim to build his own brand. While working as an accounting clerk for Sesame Workshop, the company responsible for Sesame Street, Karim with the help of his younger brother Casimir, nursed a small graphic t-shirt company, "C O L O U R F U L M O N E Y", into a full fledged Clothing brand.
What had started out as form of expression soon turned into a internationally recognized brand shipping packages from their Harlem, New York & Atlanta, GA studios across the globe to France, Australia, Russia and Japan. To date "Colourful Money" is celebrating it's 4th year of success as it continues to reach new markets with its strict word of mouth advertising policy, select store partnerships & celebrity relationships, as well as, a deal with online retail giant Karmaloop.com.
